Full of charm, and with a country farmhouse feel, Chalet Carmen is a  superbly situated duplex attic apartment in a chalet which is perched on a hilltop in the picture-perfect resort of Zermatt. Classified as ski-in by Zermatt standards (ski to within 200m of the entrance tunnel), this stunning chalet apartment in Zermatt is ideal for those looking for something luxurious, cosy and unique.

Overview

Welcoming guests into a lovely authentic Alpine charm, Chalet Carmen is a duplex attic apartment located in Casa Vanessa, which is perched on a hilltop, yet very easy to get to. Access to this luxury Zermatt chalet is via a tunnel lift which is 200 metres away from the Matterhorn Express base station and, in winter, the endpoint of the main resort ski run – this means it provides an almost “ski-in” access. The beautiful church square with its boutiques and restaurants is just five minutes away in the other direction, making it an ideal mountain home. 

With a cosy farmhouse feel, Chalet Carmen has sloping wooden ceilings and extensive panelling, creating a cosy atmosphere. The high-ceilinged living room features a wood fireplace and an open-plan kitchen with a dining and bar area. Head up to the mezzanine floor which is where you will find the second living area, plus the chalet benefits from sunny south and east-facing balconies with plunging views down the river.

Looking for some R&R? You have access to a shared wellness area with a sauna and a steam room, perfect for soothing any tired legs after a long day on the mountain. 

Should you choose to take the chalet on a fully catered basis a gourmet chef and experienced chalet host will be on hand to ensure your stay is perfect. Your day will start with a wonderful cooked and continental breakfast and on your return from skiing afternoon tea will be laid out ready for you to sample. On six nights of your stay, you are served a delicious 4-course evening meal, accompanied by an outstanding selection of fine wines and an open bar.

Chalet Carmen is a fantastic family-friendly chalet for those travelling with kids. There is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy, including a TV snug and 150 channels to choose from, so kids can relax with a movie while the adults enjoy evening drinks around the fire.

Childcare can also be easily arranged by your concierge, so you get adult leisure time. Supper is as hassle-free as it gets, as the chef is happy to prepare child-friendly meals, served at whatever time in the evening suits.

Whether you’re after flexibility or full service, everything is tailored to make your alpine escape effortless.

Location

Chalet Carmen is perched on a hillside overlooking the village. It is accessed by a tunnel with a lift bringing you directly to the front door of the apartment. The entrance is located just 200 meters from the bottom of the main ski run into the village at the foot of the Klein Matterhorn lift station. The Church square with its shops and boutiques is located just a 5 minute walk away. An electric taxi will be called to transport your luggage or shopping whenever needed. Zermatt is a car-free resort, so access is usually via the mountain train from the valley below. We can always arrange for guests to be picked up by a private vehicle that will bring you all the way to Zermatt main train station. The nearest airport is Sion, 1hr 30 minutes away and Zurich and Geneva are 3hrs 30 minutes.
