Arguably the most spectacular property in Zermatt and certainly one of the coolest super luxury chalets in the Alps, Heinz Julen Loft is a unique, huge 300m2 Manhattan style loft set in a wooden chalet above Zermatt village. With a design aesthetic at its core, the internationally acclaimed architect Heinz Julen combines acres of glass, steel, textured concrete and wood to create a truly special and highly glamorous 3 bedroom space with unbeatable Alpine views.
Breathtaking on a grand scale, the main loft living area boasts a suspended and illuminated table, so it can be raised or lowered from coffee table to dining table or up to the top of the ceiling – to really create a massive party space. The Loft was Heinz’s private home, where he entertained royalty and hosted parties for superstars. What’s more all guests of this super luxury chalet enjoy half-price access between 1 pm and 5 pm to the Backstage Hotel Genesis Spa.
On the two sides overlooking the village, the walls consist of floor-to-ceiling glass, with French windows 6 metres high leading to a large terrace. To shield guests from too much sunlight, a white electric exterior curtain wraps itself around all that glass to act as a screen. The ceiling is supported by seven gigantic columns, and the glass walls ingeniously have an inset fireplace and three alcoves – a clever architectural touch.
In one corner you can play on a baby grand Steinway piano, or you can simply sink into a super-sized, super-luxurious designer sofa and gaze agog at those stunning Alpine views. With crackling fireplaces set into the glass wall and plenty of designer mood lighting on offer, you’ll be really spoilt for choice when it comes to uninterrupted vistas.
Marvellous features abound inside The Loft from designer furniture, walls of glass, B&O music system and even a grand piano, to the granite Jacuzzi bath on the living room mezzanine floor and self-standing granite Jacuzzi bath in the master bedroom.
Sleeping up to 6 guests, Heinz Julen Loft has super stylish bedrooms, as expected. Overlooking the main loft areas are 2 double en-suite bedrooms, one above the other, each is exquisite and elegantly finished, and both enjoy a balcony to dose up further on those views. The third master bedroom is secluded with its very own landing – featuring its very own free-standing bath with wood slatted massage cover, an island bed on a rotating floor, a walk-in wardrobe, sofa and TV. With both levels of The Loft served by a private lift, to save on any tired and aching ski legs.
If you booked the Heinz Julen Penthouse, in the same building, you can holiday with up to 14 people.
