Heinz Julen Penthouse is a stunning and cleverly designed luxurious 4-bedroom chalet in the heart of Zermatt, Switzerland. The two-story seriously trendy penthouse is awe-inspiring in every way – jaw-dropping expansive views over the village and the Mischabel mountains combined with plenty of unique design features create a tremendously beautiful mountain retreat.
Zermatt’s internationally acclaimed architect, Heinz Julen, designed this extraordinary double-level 260m2 penthouse with an array of ingenious concepts such as a fireplace nesting in the middle of the living-room window, and original hand-made furniture, including Julen’s famous chandeliers and chairs. It’s no surprise that this penthouse is regularly featured in various designer magazines.
Extensive use of glass creates an airy double-height loft feel and allows natural light to fill this luxury Zermatt chalet. Heinz Julen Penthouse is a truly original space. The spectacular large living room enjoys three separate seating areas, a wonderful dining section, a sleek designer open-plan kitchen and two fantastic terraces with spectacular bird’s nest views over Zermatt.
This luxury chalet sleeps up to 8 guests across 4 bedrooms. Two double bedrooms boast high beamed ceilings each with its own en-suite shower/WC, TV and a balcony. The top floor is home to the amazing master bedroom with a free-standing round jacuzzi bath, sloping glass ceilings, stunning views, and a separate en-suite shower/WC. On the ground floor is a smaller, separate fourth double bedroom with an in-room jet shower and en-suite WC.
Access is a 2-minute walk from the top of the Omnia Hotel lifts (guests are given a private key). The village end of the lift delivers you to the heart of Zermatt, in the main street close to the church. Guests also enjoy half-price access (between 1-5pm) to the Genesis Spa of the Backstage Hotel. You also have a private glass-fronted sauna, an exercise room with a treadmill and two loungers to relax in, as well as a Jacuzzi bath is one of the bedrooms – be sure to have a glass of champagne in hand.
At Heinz Julen the highest level of dedicated staff are on standby, each member has been hand-picked for their skill, flair and professionalism, so your luxury ski holiday is as hassle free it as gets. After an active day on the slopes, if you are fully catered, your personal chef, is at the ready six days a week with various culinary concoctions, starting off with breakfast through to afternoon tea with cakes, then a sumptuous dinner, all prepared for you, so you don’t have to lift a finger.

Heinz Julen Penthouse is perched high above Zermatt, accessed via a lift from Main Street in Zermatt, and just a 2-minute walk from the top to the front door. Both Sunnega and Matterhorn express lift stations are within a 12-minute walk from the chalet. Zermatt is a car-free resort, reached by train from the valley below. Sion airport is 1.5hrs away and Geneva is 3hr 30minutes by car.
